What we do locally
Our club takes part in many service projects throughout the year, from school and youth programs to community BBQs, recycling and fundraising for local charities. Explore the projects below, or choose one from the Projects menu.

Community
- Australia Day Citizenship: welcoming new Australians at local citizenship ceremonies.
- BBQs and Sausage Sizzles: community BBQs that raise funds for local causes.
- Environment: projects that look after our local environment, including recycling.
- Hunger relief: supporting community schools to help children who go hungry.
- Magic Show: specially hosted and targeted for local children with disabilities, special needs, disadvantaged youth, and their families or carers.
Youth
- Leo Clubs: supporting young people through Leos, the Lions youth service program.
- Youth of the Year: recognising and encouraging local young people.
- Camp Duckadang: an outdoor education, camping and community retreat centre owned and run by Lions Clubs International Districts 201Q1, 201Q3 and 201Q4. We support the camp through fundraising and volunteer work.
Health and medical research
- Childhood cancer research: supporting the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCRF).
- Lions Medical Research Foundation (QLD) and prostate cancer research.
- Vision: collecting used eyeglasses so they can be reused by people who need them.
Fundraising
- Christmas Cakes and Puddings: our annual fundraiser.
- Lions Mints: a favourite fundraiser for local causes.
Lions around the world
Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organisation, with more than 1.4 million members in over 200 countries and regions. Each year, Lions serve hundreds of millions of people through eight global causes: childhood cancer, diabetes, disaster relief, the environment, humanitarian aid, hunger, vision and youth. Our club is part of that network, putting those causes into action right here in Camp Hill and Carindale.
