Lions International Peace Essay competition 2020-21
Each year the Lions International Peace essay competition is run in conjunction with the Peace Poster competition. The Essay Contest is open to students who are considered visually impaired according to their national guidelines.
Sight is a major focus of Lions Clubs International – in 1925 Helen Keller addressed the Lions Club’s International Convention Cedar Point, Ohio, USA and challenged Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness”.
The national winner of the competition this year is Joshua Wood. This is the second time that Joshua has entered and won the national award.
The title of the Essay is “Peace Through Service”, and the aim is to promote the importance of world peace and international understanding as well as provide learning opportunities and encouragement for youth.
