Celebrating 20 Years of Service – Moreton Bay Boys’ College Leo Club

A Leo, the College Principal and a Lion with the Australian Lions Foundation Community Service Award

On 14 August 2006, the Moreton Bay Boys’ College Leo Club was officially chartered with a simple but powerful vision: to give young people the opportunity to develop leadership skills, build friendships and make a meaningful difference in their community.

Twenty years later, that vision is stronger than ever!

Over the past two decades, hundreds of students have proudly worn the Leo badge, volunteering their time, fundraising for worthy causes and serving others. They have demonstrated that leadership is not simply about holding a position, but about taking action, showing kindness and making a difference.

On 13 August 2026, the College community, alumni, families and members of the Lions Club of Brisbane Camp Hill Carindale came together to celebrate this significant milestone. The Lions Club has proudly sponsored the Leo Club throughout its twenty-year history.

Special recognition was given to the club’s founders, Lion John Wearne and Councillor Alex Givney, whose vision and commitment helped establish the club in 2006. We also acknowledge the teachers, parents, Leo Advisors and Lions members who have supported and encouraged generations of young people along the way.

As part of the occasion, Leo Advisor Lion Kerry Kilpatrick presented College Principal Andrew Holmes and Leo President Zane with a 20th Anniversary Certificate and an Australian Lions Foundation Community Service Award, recognising the club’s twenty years of service to the College and the wider community.

To every Leo, past and present, thank you for embracing the Lions and Leos motto, “We Serve.” Your enthusiasm, compassion and willingness to help others demonstrate that you are never too young to lead, inspire and make a lasting difference.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we look forward to seeing the next generation of Leos continue this proud legacy of leadership, friendship and community service.

Happy 20th Anniversary, Moreton Bay Boys’ College Leo Club!
